Her father, Skip Panettiere, shared the heartbreaking news in a statement asking for privacy as the family comes to terms with the loss.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her \u2014 and to the millions who watched her onscreen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her father asked for privacy \u201cas our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-b46d480c1e47fea52277c66156efac02\" class=\"newsner-b46d480c1e47fea52277c66156efac02 newsner-incide_content_once\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further details surrounding her death have not been released, and her cause of death has not yet been made public.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-a-career-that-began-in-childhood\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A career that began in childhood<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Panettiere\u2019s career started when she was still a child. (Photo by Amanda Edwards\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then came the role that made her an international star.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2006, Panettiere was cast as cheerleader Claire Bennet on NBC\u2019s\u00a0<em>Heroes<\/em>, a role that quickly turned her into one of television\u2019s biggest young stars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She later played country singer Juliette Barnes on ABC\u2019s\u00a0<em>Nashville<\/em>, appearing throughout the show\u2019s six-season run from 2012 to 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her film credits also included\u00a0<em>Scream 4<\/em>, and she returned to the role of Kirby Reed in\u00a0<em>Scream 6<\/em>\u00a0in 2023. Her later projects included\u00a0<em>Amber Alert<\/em>,\u00a0<em>A Breed Apart<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Sleepwalker<\/em>, her final film role.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-she-never-hid-the-battles-behind-the-fame\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">She never hid the battles behind the fame<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Panettiere achieved enormous success at a young age, she was also remarkably open about the personal struggles she faced away from the cameras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a 2022 interview with\u00a0<em>Good Morning America<\/em>, she spoke candidly about alcoholism and postpartum depression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI didn\u2019t know where the alcoholism was ending and the postpartum was beginning,\u201d Panettiere said. \u201cAnd I ran myself pretty ragged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also described the years following\u00a0<em>Nashville<\/em>\u00a0as extremely difficult.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-1720287656\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"intext_198214_3_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-16fdc2887b8f63ac73e1b4f3eabd6627\" class=\"newsner-16fdc2887b8f63ac73e1b4f3eabd6627 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe years before were very difficult for me, too. (Photo by Amanda Edwards\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her role as a mother was something she continued to speak about publicly, including in her memoir,\u00a0<em>This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>, which was released earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book offered a deeply personal look at Panettiere\u2019s life, including her experiences with addiction, recovery, trauma, domestic abuse, postpartum depression, motherhood and growing up in Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also publicly came out as bisexual in the memoir.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-another-devastating-loss\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Another devastating loss<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Panettiere had already experienced unimaginable grief before her own death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, died in 2023 at just 28 years old from aortic valve complications associated with an enlarged heart syndrome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking about her brother in a 2024 People cover story, Hayden described the devastating impact his death had on her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe was my only sibling, and it was my job to protect him. I take each day as it comes.
