She hadn\u2019t worked for twenty years to keep asking permission not to be humiliated.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the door opened, Do\u00f1a Carmen went in first.<\/span><\/p>\n

His eyes were red, but not from regret. From anger. Behind him came Andr\u00e9s, disheveled, his shirt untucked, and Mateo with the pale face of someone discovering for the first time that jokes also have consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n
